House of the Dragon: HBO has Released Some New Character Posters

HBO has revealed character posters showing off the lead characters from its upcoming Game of Thrones prequel series, House of the Dragon.

Each poster shows a single character with a character name and a short description for each poster, from Matt Smith's Prince Daemon Targaryen ("Prince of the City") to Sonoya Mizuno's Mysaria ("Confidante to Daemon Targaryen").

Check out these posters below:

Eldest child of Viserys I. "Rhaenyra Targaryen"

Hand of the King: "Otto Hightower"

Prince of the City: "Daemon Targaryen"

Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, First of His Name: "Viserys Targaryen"

The Queen Who Never Was: "Rhaenys Targaryen"

Daughter to the Hand of the King: "Alicent Hightower"

Knight of the Kingsguard: "Criston Cole"

The Sea Snake: "Corlys Velaryon"

Confidante to Daemon Targaryen: "Mysaria"

With the premiere set on August 21st and the last trailer dropping as far back as October of last year, this is about as much as we've seen from the show in some time but hopefully it means we'll see more soon.

The 10-episode first season, which is based on George R.R. Martin's Fire & Blood, will elaborate on the stories surrounding the Targaryen family, who ruled Westeros prior to the events of Game of Thrones. Set 200 years before the current series, it will depict the beginning of the Targaryen dynasty's demise, culminating in a familial civil war and the seeming extinction of dragons in the fictional realm.

It's far from the only Game of Thrones spin-off on the way. In March, George R.R. Martin updated fans on a number of live action and animated shows set in the Game of Thrones universe, including The Sea Snake, 10,000 Ships, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, The Golden Empire, and more.
