Next Game Of Thrones Spinoff Gets Filming Start Date

George R. R. Martin's The Hedge Knight seemingly gets filming start date.

The realm of Game of Thrones will stretch farther into Westeros' history, with filming for the spin-off The Hedge Knight planned to begin in summer 2024.

The short story The Hedge Knight is set just 90 years before the current prequel series House of the Dragon, which investigates the demise of House Targaryen.

After a hedge knight dies, his squire Dunk inherits his riches and equipment and embarks on a quest with Egg, his own recently hired squire.

While the second season of House of the Dragon is scheduled to premiere in 2024, ProductionList.com  has disclosed the filming timeline for the upcoming Game of Thrones spin-off.

The franchise will return to well-known studio spaces and settings in Belfast, Ireland, for the spin-off, which is scheduled to start production in June.

A brief overview of The Hedge Knight was released with the listing, teasing the setting, the mission of Dunk and Egg, and the supporting cast:

Before Game of Thrones, Ser Duncan the Tall, a brave but inexperienced knight, and his small squire, Egg, roamed Westeros during the Targaryen era. Their adventures feature great destinies, formidable enemies, and daring escapades in a time when dragons still roamed and Targaryens ruled.

Will All Upcoming Game of Thrones Spin-Offs focus on  Westeros' History?

Because of House of the Dragon's popularity, it is evident that viewers still have some affection for the Westerosian realms despite the controversial reactions to the Game of Thrones finale.

As a result, a number of spin-offs have been approved, including three animated series that will each tell the story of one production's exploration of Corlys Velaryon's nine trips, while a prequel series will likewise tell the story of Aegon's conquest.

In addition to a number of prequel productions, an unprecedented and more ambitious project that might be challenging is also in the works.

Although it hasn't been formally approved, there have been long-running rumors of a Jon Snow-focused sequel to Game of Thrones season 8, which is set after the events of the season 8 finale.

The Winds of Winter author George R. R. Martin is currently working on the book, therefore there hasn't been any writing about what happens after the battles in A Song of Ice and Fire conclude.

As a result, there may be a challenging discussion on how to treat Jon Snow's series given its lack of source material and connections to a contentious ending.

HBO is obviously focused in taking the Game of Thrones franchise to new heights, even though the show's future still seems to be anchored in Westeros' history.

The Hedge Knight is slated to examine a character of lower roots and his ascent to fame, providing a fresh viewpoint on Westeros' rich past, in contrast to House of the Dragon, which is focused on warring monarchy.

It may not be long until fans find out which star is playing Dunk and Egg, since filming is reportedly set to start in the summer.
